Purpose of Position:
This position will help the Robertson School retain its teaching and research power in broadcast journalism in the School’s ongoing endeavors to achieve the University’s Quest goals.
1. Teaching: Primary teaching assignments for this faculty member will include skills classes such as writing and reporting, online journalism, multi-platform reporting and/or data journalism/ visualization, and broadcast production at the undergraduate and graduate levels.
2. Research: This position will contribute to the School’s scholarship by conducting journalism research and/or producing professional scholarship in journalism.
3. Service: This faculty member will serve on School committees (as well as College and/or University committees as needed), contributing to the well-being of the School and the VCU community. Possible supervision of the School's student-produced TV newscast may be required. Find out more about the School at http://robertson.vcu.edu/.
-Master's degree in mass communications or a related field.
-Strong college/university-level teaching experience and extensive professional experience in broadcast journalism as a journalist and/or journalism educator.
-Significant record of, or the potential for, academic or professional scholarship.
-TV production and multimedia skills.
-Demonstrated experience working in and fostering a diverse faculty, staff, and student environment or commitment to do so as a faculty member.
-Ph.D. in mass communications or a related field
-Interest in contributing to the School's growing international presence and demonstrated commitment to community engagement.
