Ensure quality, clarity, and consistency of public health course materials and special projects as assigned.
Edit and review lecture content in Microsoft PowerPoint. Set up template and style for each new course. Review and edit text according to CTL style guidelines. Re-create difficult-to-read tables. Search journals for better versions of tables and images per Fair Use copyright guidelines. Identify problematic graphic images, such as graphs and diagrams, and either recreate or assign the Medical Illustrator the task of recreating these images. Proofread textual content of re-created images. Work with audio editors and audio producers to ensure that slides and audio are properly synced.
Collaborate with instructional designers and web developers to correct any problems revealed during the quality-control process. Edit, proof, and update textual content and layout/design of course materials (syllabi, course schedules, lecture pages, course home pages, faculty bio pages, and assignment/lab/exercise pages). Work with instructional designers in all aspects of course material development. Review course site before it goes live to students. Implement and ensure that edited materials are compliant with Section 508 and web accessibility guidelines (WCAG). Collaborate with other technical writers/copy editors to create, implement, and maintain official CTL style guidelines (editorial and design) for all written (online or printed) material. Write/edit or review supplemental CTL information, such as tutorials, newsletters, brochures, abstracts, articles for conferences and journals, presentations, additional Web pages, software, and other CTL publications. Work independently, as well as, with production team (instructional designer, technical writer, web developer, audio producer and audio editor) to ensure all deadlines. Work closely with faculty and developer, audio producer and audio editor) to ensure all deadlines. Work closely with faculty and content experts on illustrations and animations.
