Provides support to a highly productive and world-renowned plasma physics research program. Manage group's computing facility including system administration, user support and web development. Writes or edits a variety of comprehensive and difficult material for stylistic consistency, logic, organization, rational development of content, and emphasis. Researches, selects sources for and conducts interviews, and ensures accuracy of written pieces.
Recommends content and layout, edits, and coordinates production of a variety of printed and online material, or conversion of printed pieces to online formats and archives. Type, and edit all materials including manuscripts for scientific abstracts, book chapters, presentations, proposals and correspondence using appropriate language, format, grammar, and style. Utilize graphic software and internet programs to compile materials for grants and fellowship submissions to private, federal and international agencies, in part with collaborators at UCSD, other U.S. universities and organizations.
Read and analyze scientific and technical content and write communications on those subjects for research. Serve as an informational liaison between the research lab and the scientific community. Initiate, compose, manage correspondence and act as liaison between authors, collaborators, publishers and referees.
Design, implement and maintain filing and cross-filing systems for rapid retrieval of information used in materials. Input both technical and text data and follow-up to ensure observation of deadlines and coordination of materials.Provide writing advice to faculty and research team. Create and edit a wide variety of materials such as manuscripts, abstracts and conference materials.
Responsible for assembling grant proposal sections, such as specific aims, research strategy, budget justifications, progress reports and close out reports. Organize and coordinate all non-scientific aspects of local, national and international events. Help coordinate the international research group activities included organizing seminars, events, conferences and in charge of arranging travel and reimbursements to the research members.
Thorough knowledge of the fundamentals of writing, grammar, syntax, style, and punctuation.

Thorough skill to write clear, lively, engaging and compelling copy in a variety of styles appropriate to target audiences and/or the broader public, while ensuring adherence to the location's message.
