PRODUCER/REPORTER II, Health & Science, WBUR Program & Production
Boston University
WBUR is seeking a multimedia journalist to join our CommonHealth unit – a multi-platform effort to report on health, medicine and life sciences. CommonHealth covers research, treatment and the health care system, always with particular focus on the human element: Effects on health, on patients, and on people's lives. The Producer/Reporter II should have a demonstrated passion for health, medical and science topics, and strong experience distinguishing between solid and junk science. The candidate should be capable of practicing the craft of public radio journalism at a high level, combined with a willingness to shoulder whichever tasks are needed for the vertical's coverage to thrive. It is critical to have strong enthusiasm for CommonHealth's mission: To do justice to the world-leading biomedical ecosystem in Boston and to help people improve their lives with solid health information. The ideal candidate is not intimidated by the complexities of biomedical fields or the often-brilliant people working in them. Rather, they will feel a commitment to making these complex but critical topics accessible to the general public through skillful storytelling.
