Scientific Editor/Writer School of Medicine-RC - United States-Pennsylvania - (18002061) The University of Pittsburgh is seeking a Scientific Editor/Writer for the Department of Cardiothoracic Surgery. The Scientific Editor/Writer will perform the following duties: - Compose scientific reports, presentations, and other comprehensive materials using correct grammar, punctuation, spelling, and syntax - Perform editing, formatting, and proofreading of own and others' work in order to clearly and concisely provide accurate information - Work with Director and a diverse group of researchers who will define project parameters and provide source materials This position will provide assistance to create modified and edited versions of our surgical results for non-surgeon medical professionals on our website and in medical newsletters from our department to enhance publications. The Scientific Editor/Writer will also assist in: - Grant Writing and editing prior to submission - Working with PR to enhance readability of marketing tools going out to the lay public and referring docs. - Editing original manuscripts from the Department of Cardiothoracic Surgery being submitted for publication in peer-reviewed journals - Writing and editing original work modified for reading by the lay public on the Department website Editorial and writing skills at the MD or PhD level are is preferred and at least 5-6 years of professional level and relevant experience is required. Selected candidates will be invited to provide examples of authored or edited documents for review. Scientific background with 5-7 years of professional level experience. Editorial and writing skills at the MD or PhD level candidate with background in biology or related field preferred, extensive experience may be substituted for advanced degree. Demonstrated experience as a writer/contributor. Must possess excellent scientific writing and verbal communication skills, be proficient in research, interpretation, and analysis of diverse data, and possess the ability to work collaboratively and independently.
