Participates in the creation, organization, development, writing, editing, and implementation of AALAS educational materials (print and online resources). Fields questions from AALAS members on educational projects and products. Performs scientific editing of research articles for AALAS journals.
Develops and coordinates new content materials for AALAS educational resources (scientific and technical) in collaboration with AALAS committees and staff (online and print).
Works with committee volunteers in the development of content material for AALAS resources, as above.
Plans and coordinates media developed and used for educational resources, consistent with appropriate copyright permissions.
Assures the content and style quality of AALAS educational resources.
Ensures accuracy of educational resources by researching topics, proofreading, and editing materials.
Performs scientific editing of research articles for AALAS journals.
Maintains rapport with members and committees by responding to requests, providing information, and resolving concerns related to educational resources.
Keeps current on all AALAS’ programs so this information can be communicated to the association membership via print and electronic media.
Works cross-functionally with departments to ensure projects align with the association’s strategic goals and objectives.
Contributes to and participates in other educational projects and supports other committees in the Department of Education & Scientific Affairs and the AALAS association.
Contributes to and participates in the educational activities and committee functions at the AALAS National Meeting (which involves all AALAS departments and staff).
May participate in other conferences and meetings and give presentations or webinars.
Minimum of 1-year experience in a laboratory animal facility and publication in a scientific journal
Teaching or training experience, either through education or on-the-job
Excellent organizational, writing, editing, and proofing skills related to scientific and nonscientific material
Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Acrobat Standard, HTML
Photoshop experience a plus
Able to work well under multiple deadlines and with constant interruptions.
Must have initiative and good judgment, be able to assume responsibility, work independently without close supervision, be a proactive problem-solver with creative abilities to get the job done.
Able to coordinate and inspire a team and deliver high quality content and projects in a timely manner.
Must have strong interpersonal skills to work with all employees, members, and the public. Able to deal with all types of people and handle conflict with composure and professionalism.
