Keene State College seeks a talented professional to join a dynamic and creative Marketing and Communications Department as a full-time Social Media Strategist/Writer/Editor. The Marketing and Communications Department serves the Collegeâs mission by building its brand, distinction, and awareness through a compelling institution-wide narrative that turns first impressions into lasting relationships.
The Social Media Strategist/Writer/Editor will conceptualize, develop, and deliver effective engagement strategies and content for the Collegeâs flagship social media accounts. This position also writes and edits engaging content across all platforms including marketing materials, publications, advertising, and web/email content. We seek a self-motivated individual who can work with a high level of independence in delivering accurate and timely content, and who can collaborate effectively with campus partners and Marketing and Communications web developers, writers, designers, and photographer/videographer. Responsibilities include: develop social media strategy and create/implement effective content that results in engagement on the Collegeâs flagship social media accounts, write stories and content for distribution across a variety of communication channels including publications, advertising, social media, and web/email content; conduct interviews and/or research to produce stories; edit and proofread materials prepared by campus partners for distribution; attend college functions and meetings in order to understand institutional mission and develop collaborative relationships across campus (possibility of evening or weekend assignments).
Bachelorâs degree in journalism, communications, public relations, marketing, or closely related field; a minimum of three years of writing marketing or promotional content with at least one year direct experience creating content and/or strategy for social media platforms in a professional setting to support brand awareness; experience with a variety of web and social media channels in a professional setting; ability to identify content for stories that demonstrate the mission, vision, and values of Keene State College; ability to work collaboratively with all divisions and marketing and communications staff to achieve outstanding examples of communications for internal and external audiences; demonstrated effective interpersonal and communication skills, ability to work collaboratively in an interdisciplinary team environment and experience working with a variety of internal and external constituencies; ability to generate compelling stories as demonstrated through published samples with a commitment to meet project deadlines and budgets; familiarity with a variety of style guides.
