Job Title : Video Editor and Motion Graphics Designer Department: Communications & Brand Strategy Division: Creative Content Reports to: Senior Director, Creative Content
The Brand Strategy division at the National Association of Manufacturers (NAM) is looking for a video editor and motion graphics designer to complement our talented team of designers, writers and artists. NAM is seeking an intrepid, skilled and innovative editor and designer to execute the NAM's daily in-house video program. This is a chance to help tell stories, shape the brand DNA and design for the largest manufacturing association in the country, representing many of the most innovative and tech-leading companies in the world.
The ideal candidate is a self-motivated, creative, fun, expert storyteller with a deep knowledge of Adobe After Effects, Adobe Premier and Final Cut; command of SD and HD formats and digital spot delivery methods, including encoding, transcoding and compressing; and a proven proficiency in editing digital videos and creating motion effects. While not all projects are for social media, we're looking for someone who embraces the role of social media creator as much as video production and design--and looks to seize opportunities to standout. The right candidate should be able to work independently (but be a team player) in a fast-paced and always-evolving environment. Responsibilities Include The Following (Other Duties May Be Assigned):
Take the lead on video projects from concept to delivery--storyboard, design, animation, feedback, QA and production.
Conceptualize, produce and edit creative, engaging video pieces, motion graphics, rip-o-matic and animations that tell a compelling story with the appropriate narrative arc for the project, brand and audience. Examples of projects include everything from an animated explainer or something that relies heavily on existing b-roll or stock footage to scripted videos with newly produced content. Every project will be different, but this could be as complex as a full-blown, scripted video production with interviews of subjects, a short documentary or as simple as looping gifs or user interaction with a presentation.
Develop work that is on-brief and on-brand, raising the creative bar while meeting project goals.
Collaborate closely with creative, messaging and digital teams to establish desired editorial approach for all videos in development.
Gather and transfer all forms of media that might be necessary for post and optimize for final exports.
Manage all billable items (videographers, cameras, lights, etc.) and editorial suite maintenance under the direction of the Creative Content Senior Director.
Edit, design, mix and master audio for both video applications and for audio, like radio and podcasts, and correct and grade color for live-action projects.
Synthesize and implement multiple rounds of critical feedback from a variety of stakeholders throughout the post-production process.
Transcode footage to appropriate formats.
Arrange audio recording sessions and mixes.
Source talent for on camera and voiceovers.
Select stock assets (audio and visual) and ensure proper license is maintained.
Demonstrate the ability multitask and to constantly track loose ends and report issues to appropriate parties.
Maintain good file hygiene by keeping projects clearly organized and collected for achieving purposes with a meticulously organized file structure.
Develop and maintain strong relationships with internal partners and outside consultants and support, including videographers and ad agencies.
Efficiently manage in-house shoot schedules, video project-related travel, external studio use and project logistics.
Manage external vendors on larger productions and oversee shoot scheduling, travel, script and storyboard input, location logistics, editing coordination and assistance, final product packaging and distribution.
Help identify, assemble, operate and maintain optimal equipment for in-field, mobile, documentary-style video shoots as well as high-quality studio productions.
Thrive in a high-energy, fast-paced and deadline-driven environment.
Supervisory Responsibilities (includes the number of employees supervised and the nature of the supervision): N/A

Basic 3D animation capabilities, including some experience with character animation.
Experience in creating pre-production materials including script, storyboard and animatic.
Strong knowledge of industry standard formats, and media management practices on Mac and PC and networked environments.

Strong understanding of how best to leverage major social media platforms, including Facebook, LinkedIn, Instagram, Twitter, TikTok, and Snapchat, to advance the NAM's video projects.
Ability to multitask, prioritize and manage multiple deadlines and urgent tasks.

A background in advertising, politics, sports, trade association or non-profit subject matter is also preferred. Location: Washington, D.C., with occasional travel.
