The Craig Newmark Graduate School of Journalism at CUNY, founded in 2006, has become nationally recognized for its innovative programs. The only public graduate journalism school in the northeastern U.S., it prepares students from diverse economic, racial, and cultural backgrounds to produce high-quality journalism. As the profession rapidly reinvents itself for the digital age, the Newmark J-School is at the forefront of equipping the next generation of journalists with the tools to find stories and tell them effectively - using print, broadcast, visual, interactive, and social media. The school offers two master's degree programs: a Master of Arts in Journalism and the nation's first M.A. in Engagement Journalism.
Reporting to the Director of Technology, the Salesforce System Administrator at the Newmark Graduate School of Journalism will oversee the functional operation, data management, technical support, and security of the Salesforce platform and the software components that operate within. The System Administrator will coordinate with the various departments using the Salesforce platform, including Admissions, Student Affairs, Career Services, Alumni Services, Finance and Development, to ensure smooth implementation and operation of its functions.
Duties include but are not limited to:
Provides technical advice and instruction regarding upgrades and future computing environments;
Oversees account creation, maintenance, software installation, back-up and restoration activities;
Establishes best practices and processes that maximize system utilization, monitoring key performance indicators, creating campaigns, managing content, and training and supporting users with a goal of supporting customer and data initiatives;
Performs other duties as assigned.
High School Diploma, G.E.D., or equivalent
An equivalent of seven years of experience post-high school that can be met by one of the following: seven years of full-time work experience in a computer or technology related position; an Associate's degree plus five years of full-time work experience in a computer or technology-related position; a Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution plus three years of full-time work experience in a computer or technology-related position
Demonstrated English Language proficiency
A Motor Vehicle Driver's license, valid in New York State, may be required for some, but not all positions.
This job has three levels. To qualify for Levels 2 and 3, additional qualifications, such as education, experience, or certification relevant to the area of specialization are required.
A preferred candidate should have:
-Bachelor???s degree in a computational field and five (5) years experience in research computing.
-Substantial experience in hands-on programming in a variety of languages and methodologies.
-Fluency in the Salesforce systems/software platforms that have an integrated base of software components to satisfy campus functional needs for Admissions, Student Affairs, Career Services, Alumni Services, Finance, and Development.
-Substantial experience with distributed computing environments.
-Substantial experience with Cloud-based systems, integration with University and campus systems as well as a substantial working knowledge as a Salesforce Administrator.
-Familiarity with project management software, CUNYfirst, Salesforce, and Salesforce plug-in software solutions.
IMPORTANT BENEFITS NOTICE: Health Plan Coverage for Employees Hired on or after July 1, 2019 City of New York employees and employees of Participating Employers and their eligible dependents hired on or after July 1, 2019 will only be eligible to enroll in the EmblemHealth HIP HMO Preferred Plan and must remain in the HIP HMO Preferred Plan for the first year (365 days) of employment.
After 365 days of employment, the employee will have the option of either remaining in the HIP HMO Preferred Plan or selecting a different health plan within 30 days before the end of the 365th day period. If a new health plan is selected, the new plan will be effective on the 366th day.
Only after the 365th day can the employee participate in any Annual Fall Transfer Period.
An employee who needs to request an exemption from the required enrollment in the HIP HMO Preferred Plan can do so by submitting a HIP HMO Opt-Out Request Form to EmblemHealth. An employee, or eligible dependent, must meet certain criteria and the request must be approved by EmblemHealth before the exemption is granted. The HIP HMO Opt-Out Request Form and HIP service area are available on the EmblemHealth website.
CUNY offers a comprehensive benefits package to employees and eligible dependents based on job title and classification. Employees are also offered pension and Tax-Deferred Savings Plans. Part-time employees must meet a weekly or semester work hour criteria to be eligible for health benefits. Health benefits are also extended to retirees who meet the eligibility criteria.
