North Carolina Public Radio WUNC is hiring a temporary Digital News Producer.
This position is located in Durham, NC.
The university is currently piloting a flexible work arrangements program, and this position may be eligible to participate in the program based on the hiring unit’s business needs.
The temporary Digital News Producer creates news content on wunc.org and social media. The temporary Digital News Producer will develop story ideas, research, conduct interviews and produce meaningful content for WUNC. The temporary Digital News Producer also edits digital content created by other WUNC reporters and producers.
The position will include the following specific duties:
Take news broadcast and podcast content and distribute appropriately (audiograms, pull quotes, accompanying photos/videos)
Manage audience engagement with podcast
Monitor local/state trends related to coronavirus and other news
Connect directly with social accounts that will like, share and engage with our content
Collaborate with podcast producers and individual reporters on social engagement for their coverage
This is a 40 hours per week, Monday thru Friday position, with occasional weekend or evening work.
The Candidate: The temporary Digital News Producer will be an experienced news producer with strong reporting, production, editorial, and communication skills.
Minimum Education & Experience Required:
High school diploma or equivalency and one year of experience related to the area of assignment in a broadcast television, radio and emerging media environment; or equivalent combination of training and experience.
Leading candidates will have:
Minimum 3 years’ experience as a digital/social media producer or editor.
Excellent communication skills, written and oral.
Excellent organizational skills
Strong research and journalism skill
Experience transforming news events and headlines into engaging online storytelling
