Experienced broadcast journalist, with a love for public radio and morning light, needed to join a four-person news team as Morning Edition anchor at Aspen Public Radio in Aspen, CO.
Aspen Public Radio is a forty-year-old public media organization serving the vibrant Roaring Fork Valley, nestled in the heart of the Rocky Mountains. We seek a professional broadcast journalist with high standards to keep our listeners informed and engaged via the radio, digital channels, and public events.
Who We Are Looking For: We seek an experienced broadcast journalist with a skill set that includes anchoring, writing, producing, and reporting.
Anchoring Morning Edition is the primary focus of this position, but the job requires a journalist who can also report on breaking news, write broadcast copy, and produce quality audio under tight deadlines. You will join other journalists at the station who also report, write, produce, and anchor.
Duties: • Anchor Morning Edition. • Report, write, produce, and deliver live newscasts. • Serve as general reporter, writer, and producer in addition to morning anchor. • Produce high-quality, accurate, and ethical broadcast journalism. • Produce digital content. • Anchor and produce live remote broadcasts and public events. • Participate in trainings and workshops. • Attend donor and station events and participate in on-air fundraising drives.
Required Qualifications: • Experience as a live on-air announcer, broadcast writer, radio reporter, and audio producer. • Deep knowledge of the ethics and practices of journalism. • Good understanding of the issues facing Colorado’s Western Slope. • Appreciation for the purpose and mission of public broadcasting. • Strong time management skills and ability to meet deadlines on a regular basis. • Well-practiced collaboration skills • Enthusiasm for the Rocky Mountains.

This is a full-time salaried position reporting to the Aspen Public Radio news director, requiring availability for day, evening, weekend, and holiday shifts. It is required that this employee be a year-round resident in the Roaring Fork Valley. APR offers full-time staff benefits including employer-paid health insurance, 403(b) match, and paid vacation. Ski pass financing and rapid transit bus pass financing is available. Relocation support is available. Salary is $60,000.
