The Editor, reporting to the Assistant Vice President/Executive Editor of Marketing & Communications editorial channels, is responsible for establishing Boston University as a leader in life sciences research and education by identifying, researching, and promoting life sciences and engineering achievements at the University.
The Editor oversees the everyday editorial working of the Research website. Identifies research stories throughout BUs schools/colleges, lecture and journal articles for original story ideas or reposting. Uses editorial judgment to identify and elevate potential stories as features and consider how they reflect the diversity of the research at Boston University. Also serves as a subject-matter expert on particular science topics and/or research areas, covering extremely complex topics in research and engineering. Will research, write, and edit articles on noteworthy research, and emerging trends in science and health to be published various communication channels including online and in internal publications.

BA/BS in English, journalism, or equivalent with 8 plus years of professional writing including science news.
Familiarity with scientific/technical terms and the ability to comprehend research and academic writing and translate it in laymen's terms for different audiences, including the media and the general public, depending on the distribution channel.
Excellent writing, interviewing, and organizational skills; ability to handle several projects simultaneously and to work as a member of a creative team; computer experience required.
Demonstrated initiative to seek and propose solutions to problems with high energy and a positive attitude and commitment to continual improvement.
Exceptional organization and time management skills.
Ability to produce excellent results and work collaboratively across all areas of the University.
This position requires an experienced and passionate science writer who is conversant in a variety of life sciences disciplines, knows how science works, and has demonstrated experience.
