Primary Job Function:
The Copy Writer/Editor helps instill corporate brand through creation, editing and quality assurance of content for internal and external marketing communications, including print, video and digital applications. The primary focus of this role includes copy writing and editing for brand communications, public affairs and business communications. The Copy Writer/Editor will partner with creative directors, project managers, writers, senior designers, and at times, internal Abbott clientele. Candidates must possess the ability to provide exceptional quality assurance balanced with comprehension and articulation of Abbott's voice, style and business needs.
Rewrite copy from writers to ensure the materials have strong command of the English language, style guides, grammar, consistency, and the ability to master Abbott brand style and voice; and modify as appropriate.
Develops creative briefs by developing a concise outline of jobs that need to be completed, which contain project parameter, goals and inspirations to achieve to achieve business goals
Develops and maintains a content calendar
Oversees multiple content projects simultaneously and ensures deadlines are met in a fast-paced environment
Collaborates in a team environment, working with designers and project managers to produce brand marketing materials that address internal clients' goals and business objectives
Creates highly shareable content that is used across Abbott's businesses
Review and proofreading of all types of materials for accuracy, consistency and clarity
Bachelor's degree required. Major in English or Journalism
Exceptional writing and proofreading skills
Experience with AP Writing Style and AMA references
Multitasks, prioritizes and meets deadlines in a timely manner
Strong organizational and follow-up skills
Attention to detail
Deep understanding of corporate branding structure
