Position Summary:

The Department of Communications and Media Studies in the College of Arts and Sciences at North Central College seeks to hire a full-time, ongoing Lecturer to lead our journalism program beginning August 1, 2022. Preference will be given to applicants with at least five years of professional journalism experience and expertise in digital journalism tools and storytelling strategies (video, audio and/or multimedia). Applicants must demonstrate commitment to excellence in teaching and mentoring of students. A Bachelor's degree in journalism, mass communication or related field is required; an advanced degree is preferred.

The person hired for this position will be expected to teach courses in newsgathering, digital journalism, and copyediting, and will have an opportunity to develop upper-level courses related to their expertise. Ability to teach courses in media law and ethics will be weighed in the candidate's favor. Previous experience advising a student newspaper or news organization is desirable but not required.
