The Department of Chemistry is seeking a Writer/Editor to join its team. The Writer will support writing and disseminating communication projects for the department as well as individual faculty members and students. This person will also assist in coordinating interactions between the Department, Dornsife College of Letters, Arts and Sciences, and University teams, as well as Foundations and private sector partners.
Basic Job Roles
- Plans and writes a variety of scientific and general interest content for the Department of Chemistry, including the Department of Chemistry newsletter and stories highlighting accomplishments of students, faculty, and staff. Coordinates content dissemination on the department webpage and social media, as well as via university-wide media outlets. Coordinates departmental efforts with communications teams from the College and University.
- Assists in managing relationships with foundations and private sector partners of the department.
- Contributes to department-wide projects including collaborative grant proposals and award nominations. Assists individual faculty and students with the writing and editing of technical research grant proposals and applications to ensure readability, accessibility, etc.
- Provides administrative support including coordinating sectional seminar programs and assisting in managing reimbursements.
Required Experience
- Experience with writing, editing, proofreading, and the preparation of materials for publication.
- Experience with content dissemination on the web and through social media.
- Excellent organization and project administration skills and ability to work independently and as a team member.
Salary range: $32 - $35.99 per hour - DOE
