Job Description:

• Reads faculty research papers.
• Proposes ideas for charts and graphics.
• Works closely with faculty members to acquire research data and to accurately translate them for publication.
• Designs some web graphics and writes all accompanying explanatory copy.
• Commissions, guides, and collaborates with freelance graphic designers on the creation of more complicated graphics optimized for print and web.
• Works closely with CBR editors and designers to influence the direction and presentation of data-driven stories.
• Creates custom data presentations for Twitter, Instagram, and other platforms.
• Creates scripts and visuals for data-driven videos.
• Ensures contributors meet agreements and are paid promptly.
• Meets production deadlines.
• Promotes best practices in data visualization at Booth by joining data user groups and contributing to data projects beyond Intellectual Capital as needed.
• Provides expertise to designing and maintaining editing schedules and managing the proofreading, review, and correction of page proofs and additional proof stages.
• Works directly with writers, editors, and others involved in projects. Ensures the quality of editorial work of others and advises them on the prioritization of assignments. Guides the staff in setting procedures and editing styles and in resolving any other issues that may arise.
• Performs other related work as needed.

Preferred Qualifications

Education:

• Bachelorâ™s degree in a quantitative subject.
• Masterâ™s degree.

Experience:

• At least three years of experience in data management.
• Design or editorial experience.
• Experience in a design or editorial position.
• Experience in reading, understanding, and writing about complex material.
• Experience working with faculty.

Technical Skills or Knowledge:

• Proficiency in industry software and trends for both print and online data visualization.
• Comfort with research in accounting, behavioral science, economics, econometrics, finance, marketing, operations, and statistics.

Preferred Competencies

• Excellent and professional verbal, written, and presentation skills, as well as organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Strong problem solving skills and handle multiple projects simultaneously.
• Excellent time-management skills and work effectively with minimal supervision.
