This position will serve as the local host of WCMU's Morning Edition serving central and northern Michigan. Writes and delivers live newscasts, in addition to other critical information, such as weather, underwriting announcements and promos. When not on the air, this position reports spot and feature stories, conducts interviews, writes for our website, may edit for reporting staff and students, and generate new ideas for WCMU and the newsroom.
BR-1: Bachelor's degree in journalism, broadcasting, or related field or equivalent combination of education and work experience. Experience in reporting situations, including impromptu interview questioning and scripted situations. Experience in field news gathering or remote recording situations. Experience serving as the host of a radio news program. Must possess basic announcing skills. General knowledge of digital audio editing and studio situations. Ability to maintain positive interpersonal relationships with faculty, students, visitors and fellow work associates. Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
