The Stanford Center for Professional Development in the School of Engineering seeks a versatile and experienced video editor who can complete instructional digital media projects with speed, accuracy, and a developed aesthetic.

A SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE WILL:
Translate a general vision into a consistent and scalable design language across individual courses and program portfolios
Identify opportunities to add dynamic graphics/motion graphics and implement those enhancements efficiently
Manage a portfolio of post-production projects with a sense of urgency while maintaining a high level of quality
Serve as an integral member of the digital media team, collaboratively working with the other members to suggest and implement tools, workflows, and processes
CORE DUTIES
Research, prepare and produce digital media for instruction, promotional programs, location and studio programs, live video conferences and webcasts, live-on-tape studio, and/or other communicative purposes for both internal and external audiences.
Partner with clients on strategic and creative approaches to projects involving abstract or technical content to meet objectives and within time and cost constraints: articulating the production process and expectations, communicating issues, providing status updates, and suggesting appropriate methods for improvement.
Develop and market digital services to internal and external clients to create visual content, including video and images and provide best practice standards that foster photographic and video excellence.
Manage all aspects of capturing, recording, and transmitting of all digital media productions, video and/or images.
Make recommendations for purchases and repairs of digital media equipment. Diagnose and resolve digital media system problems. Create cost estimates for different equipment options. Provide stewardship of university resources.
May be responsible for producing remote multi-camera programs, supervising field crews and managing technical aspects and overall approach for productions, including all collateral.
May produce high-quality post-production and editing to ensure a quality product and an accurate depiction of content. May review and edit masters to meet the needs of the client(s) and/or producer and properly store, label, and archive of masters and edited masters.
May produce high-quality digital surrogates of fragile and/or rare materials or other analog sources for access, display, and preservation purposes using a variety of equipment.
May set up, operate and troubleshoot on a variety of equipment including but not limited to; video cameras, video projection, video conferencing, still photography, analog and digital audio recording. May train or provide guidance to other staff.
May act as liaison with vendors, develop strategies, workflows, and rate cards for clients, identify competitive pricing for products and services and close projects for billings.
Your responsibilities will include
Owning the editing of digital media projects from start to finish with general direction and minimal oversight.
Partnering closely with the producers from conceptualization to the final master delivery.
Collaborating with stakeholders to ensure a smooth transition between the production > post-production > delivery phases: communicating issues in a timely manner and providing solutions.
Assembling raw footage to aid in EDL creation and being an active participant in video review cycles using Frame.io.
Identifying opportunities for the judicious application of additional graphics and/or animations in collaboration with the producers.
Completing the post-production of content: editing videos, adding slides and supplemental content, and encoding video resources to the right specifications.
Adding final polish to videos including color correction and audio sweetening.
Uploading completed assets to the production server(s) and/or shared storage platforms (e.g. Google Drive).
Suggesting and implementing new techniques, technologies, methods, and workflows to maximize quality and efficiency.
Developing reusable templates, titles, and subtle motion graphics to streamline workflows.
Managing and organizing project assets in Media Asset Management (MAM) software and on the SAN.
Maintaining an organized library of content and assets with a high level of detail.
Education & Experience
Bachelor's degree and five years of relevant experience or combination of education and relevant experience.
Desired Qualifications
Strong visual and documentary storytelling ability with technical expertise in all aspects of post-production
Deep understanding of the postproduction pipeline: Offline, online & conform, general compositing, screen compositing and/or replacement, picture clean up, color correction, tracking, time/speed morphs, project archiving, and mixing
Proven professional experience with Adobe Premiere, After Effects, and other software in the Adobe Creative Cloud suite of applications (including Photoshop, InDesign, and Character Animator), and Frame.io (or similar video review tool).
Experience working on multiple projects concurrently, including a commitment to meeting timelines and proactively communicating delays or issues
Demonstrated experience and a thorough understanding of technical video aspects such as codecs, frame rates, resolution, compressions, and online/proxy/offline workflows
Ability to adapt to a variety of visual styles with a developed sense of taste
Excellent interpersonal skills and positive service-oriented attitude; mature judgment and developed diplomacy skills; demonstrated ability to build and maintain positive relationships
Strong ability to perform detailed work with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail
Understanding of the online video environment and online distribution; interest in learning new, emerging platforms and tools
Ability to work collaboratively on a functional and cross-functional team
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
Advanced technical experience using digital media equipment, video creation, editing software, and/or digital media control software.
Strong knowledge in production techniques including videography, compression and file delivery and other production formats.
Broad knowledge of all aspects of professional quality productions, including field and studio camera, lighting, sound and editing,
Understanding of the online video environment and online distribution.
Demonstrated ability to perform repairs on a wide variety of audio, visual and computer equipment.
Ability to adapt equipment setup and provide alternative setup or workarounds if necessary.
Ability to manage a variety of simultaneous projects within tight deadlines, excellent organizational and time management skills.
Excellent interpersonal skills, mature judgment, and diplomacy required to interact effectively with and provide customer service to a broad audience.
Ability to work independently as well as effectively in a collaborative team environment.
May require experience planning, coordinating, and executing archival digitization projects.
