Description of Work:

This position conducts multimedia production for the Office of University Communication from conception through planning, shooting, scripting, editing and distribution. Through creative storytelling, the work supports the marketing and communications and student recruitment goals of the university.
This position is responsible for strategy, design, creation, development, and production of audiovisual media for diverse audiences, including internal and external stakeholders.
The video producer will collaborate with teams and campus partners to produce a broad variety of videos which may include: event sizzle reels, research explainers, narrative storytelling and marketing spots; video and motion graphics for social media platforms, and stories for both internal and external communications.
This position supports the sourcing of user-generated video content through direct connections to students. The video producer is also responsible for the operation, maintenance and/or oversight of media production equipment, production, and distribution-related activities.
The ideal person is a detail-oriented self-starter, passionate about using cameras and multimedia technology to tell stories in creative and compelling ways. They are a strong writer, using words, pictures, sounds and graphics to create engaging videos. They are proficient at using professional camera, lighting and audio recording equipment and software tools including Final Cut Pro or Premiere and Motion or After Effects. They like working in teams, but can also comfortably go solo with the camera to conduct captivating interviews.

Minimum Required Qualifications:
Associate degree in English, Journalism, Advertising, PR, Communications, Marketing, Media Arts or related discipline plus 3 years of videography experience with a strong reel of past video work; equivalent education/experience considered. Proficiency in cinematography and camera operation. Strong editing and post-production skills using Adobe Creative Suite or Apple video production software. Ability to creatively tell a story through video. Demonstrated ability to manage the entire production process from planning, to storyboarding, to production and through mastering. Experience creating videos for online streaming platforms like YouTube. Script writing abilities. Motion graphics skills using Apple Motion or Adobe After Effects. Flexibility to work very occasional nights or weekends.
Bachelor's Degree in English, Journalism, Advertising, PR, Communications, Marketing, Media Arts or related discipline. Experience in sourcing user-generated content for video production. Proficiency in editing videos sourced from user-generated content. Experience with motion graphics production. Understanding of higher education. Ability to produce excellent content from cameras scaling from mobile phone/user-generated content to DSLR cameras. Motion graphics skills.
