Crain Communications is seeking an experienced digital designer to join our award-winning team in creating innovative storytelling for our four business publications in Chicago, New York, Cleveland and Detroit. Story experiences include photography, illustration, video and data visualizations across several areas, such as business, climate, technology, finance, energy and health.

This is a highly collaborative role that includes working with editors, reporters, and other visual journalists. We are looking for a strong designer who can build what they design.

You will report to the Creative Director.

Qualifications:

• At least three years of experience in an equivalent role, with a good understanding of business and multimedia journalism.
• Superior skills in interactive design, including color, typography, layout and user experience.
• Expertise with Adobe design software.
• Expertise with HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
• At least one or two other specialties preferred, which might include video editing, illustration, animation or cartography.
