The School of Communication at American University invites applications for a term faculty appointment beginning August 29, 2022. The School of Communication seeks candidates whose research, teaching, or service has prepared them to contribute to our commitment to diversity and inclusion of those historically underrepresented individuals in higher education. A master’s degree related to Journalism is preferred. The position requires multimedia digital skill sets, as well as deep journalism experience and could include some weekend courses. The successful incumbent will teach three courses per semester in Journalism, including, but not limited to, Digital Skills (video, audio, web,) Writing for Communication, Backpack Video Journalism and Reporting/Advanced Reporting. All faculty are expected to hold a minimum of 2 hours/week of office hours and participate in School and University activities and service.
