Illinois Wesleyan University (IWU) is seeking a magazine editor/communications specialist to join our dynamic team. This position will produce the IWU Magazine, the University’s flagship alumni publication, and develop strategic communications to engage a wide range of audiences. Develop strategy, create and oversee content for the IWU Magazine; write and edit content; identify and prioritize content to promote the University’s core messages; lead an editorial board to gather input from key University constituents
Oversee design, print and mailing processes for the IWU Magazine; manage magazine budget; collaborate with graphic designer(s) and photographer(s) to produce eye-catching, on-brand designs; retain vendor(s) for print production and mailing; manage publishing timelines; manage relationship with USPS and periodical mailing permits
Generate communications serving Admissions, Marketing, Communications and Advancement; write content for digital initiatives targeting prospective students and other strategic audiences; collaborate with campus partners to develop and maintain updated materials representing University programs
Bachelor’s degree required
Minimum of three years’ related experience
Knowledge of Associated Press style, mailing and printing processes, and Adobe Creative Suite
Demonstrated skills in writing, editing and attention to detail

The final candidate will pass a pre-employment background investigation.
