The Department of Journalism in the School of Communication at Emerson College is hiring a continuing line, full-time, term faculty member in Broadcast and Multimedia Journalism to join the department in the Boston campus. The appointment begins August 24, 2023 with a mandatory 2-day orientation August 24 & 25, 2023.

The faculty member in this position will be expected to support existing courses in audio/video reporting and producing, TV news producing, TV news reporting, news magazine and documentary and long-form multimedia storytelling as well as work with its co-curricular organizations in visual and multimedia news. This person will also help to enhance the department's use of video and audio news formats across creative and dynamic emerging media practices.
For this term position, the ideal candidate will have teaching experience in multimedia news reporting and producing courses that integrate digital and social media storytelling. Candidates with professional experience in broadcast journalism are preferred. A portfolio of work using video reporting and producing skills for on air and online presentation is expected.
The person in this position could work to expand our in-depth and enterprise course offerings with new courses to teach students to develop interactive and immersive stories for on air and online. They are encouraged to develop courses that could extend the department's Advanced Journalism Diversity offerings as well as collaborative enterprise journalism work. Members of historically underrepresented groups are encouraged to apply.
The ideal candidate should have a Master's degree, demonstrate a record of successful teaching at the college level. and present an online portfolio of professional work that highlights broadcast and digital news expertise. Candidates with at least five years of professional experience in broadcast journalism are preferred.
