The Copy Editor-Health Communications Coordinator develops, researches, writes, edits and manages the review process of medical/scientific/consumer-health articles and publications for physicians and lay audiences under minimal supervision. Directs print and electronic production including layout, design, final proofs, mailing and distribution. Work requires independent judgment and initiative on assignments that are complex in nature, and a demonstrated ability to deal effectively with publication advisory boards, UAB and referring physicians, high-level administrators, and other internal and external health-care professionals to develop and produce scientifically accurate publications that meet the highest journalistic standards. May be responsible for development and maintenance of department's website and site content. Assists various media relations and marketing efforts for the department. Develops and maintains publication budget and assists director in developing and maintaining annual office budget. May direct and/or oversee writing staff on various projects to ensure proper and timely completion. May have some direct supervisory responsibilities depending upon departmental needs.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Responsible for content publishing/editing needs, social media/communications management, and development/implementation of health and wellness communication campaigns for the NCHPAD program.
- Develops, researches, writes, manages review process, and publishes medically relevant and scientifically accurate articles for people with disabilities.
- Responsible for developing and maintaining a consistent voice and tone for all NCHPAD materials and resources through proofreading, editing, and contributing to content strategy and brand management of resources and publications for print and digital use.
- Directs print an electronic production and distribution, including overseeing layout, design, final proofs, and mailing and distribution, and evaluating impact.
- Serves as the copy editor for all NCHPAD online communication, marketing, and social media campaign. Work with our team of Expert Inclusion Specialists (EIS) and graphic and digital content designers to develop and curate compelling, creative, and engaging content for our audiences.
- Oversee the work of NCHPAD's digital management and social media team.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Annual Salary Range: $51,270.00 - $83,330.00
