The Association of Missouri Electric Cooperatives is looking for an editor with outstanding writing, editing and creative skills to join our team. The Rural Missouri magazine is a print and digital magazine that reaches more than 584,000 homes across Missouri each month.
As the editor, you will be responsible for the print production process as well as writing and editing content as well as other publications, websites, special projects and scripts for the association and its member cooperatives.
Applicants should have passion for furthering the interests of and improving life for citizens and businesses in rural Missouri.
Lead monthly print production process of Rural Missouri magazine
Lead the editorial planning and direction of the Rural Missouri magazine
Edit the full magazine, including all local cooperative pages
Establish writing assignments as appropriate for staff and freelance writers
Serve as the primary liaison with the magazine printer; work with printer to ensure it is printed satisfactorily and on time. Intervene and work to resolve any quality or production issues
Serve as primary liaison with the U.S. Postal Service; work with the post office, printer/mailing house and subscribing cooperatives to resolve issues and ensure the publication is delivered accurately and on time
Managing subscriptions and mailing lists for subscribing cooperatives
Coordinate magazine billing and record-keeping
Archive and maintain all digital media assets
Plan and prepare a weekly Rural Missouri Podcast
Create, maintain, and implement the Rural Missouri app
Perform supervisory responsibilities according to the association policies and applicable laws
Direct, coach and review the work of staff members
Education and Experience
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have an equivalent of the following education and/or experience.
Bachelor’s degree in communication, journalism, public relations, or a related field is required
Minimum of 5 years of journalism and editorial management experience required
