Job Description
Primary Duties & Responsibilities
Serve as editor of a monthly internal newsletter for University Advancement staff. Includes soliciting, writing, and editing content; sourcing and editing photos; creating layouts using Adobe InDesign templates; and collaborating with colleagues to improve content strategy, audience engagement, and editorial processes.
Write articles and other content for Advancement and partner publications, websites, social media, event programs, direct mail, one-sheets, correspondence, and other communication projects. Conduct research and interviews with employees, faculty members, students, alumni, and donors.
Provide copy editing, fact-checking, and proofreading support in accordance with AP style and various university style guides. Oversee updates to the Advancement style guide and educate colleagues about style issues.
Assist with the production of newsletters, including research; photo sourcing; website page layout; email formatting; and mailing list and subscription management.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Preferred Qualifications
Master's degree.
Two to five years of professional experience in writing, editing, content development, publication production, or a related field.
Demonstrated proficiency in writing and editing copy using editorial style guides, particularly AP style.
Experience with Adobe Creative Suite, including Photoshop and InDesign, and strong sense of publication design.
Excellent project management and organizational skills, including the ability to multitask and manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
Experience in higher education or advancement.
Outstanding oral and written communication skills.
Excellent editing and proofreading skills.
Meticulous attention to detail and accuracy.
Ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
High degree of diplomacy and tact.
Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively with diverse constituencies.
Understanding of and commitment to the highest professional standards.
Respect for confidentiality and adherence to professional ethics.
Required Qualifications
A bachelor's degree.
Two years of professional experience in publications editing, writing, production or a related field.
Or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Salary Range
$43,400.00 - $71,700.00 / AnnuallyThe salary range reflects base salaries paid for positions in a given job grade across the University. Individual rates within the range will be determined by factors including one's qualifications and performance, equity with others in the department, market rates for positions within the same grade and department budget.
