About Us Launched in February 2021, The Assembly is a subscriber-supported, for-profit news outlet focused on delivering exceptional magazine-style journalism at the state level in North Carolina. We're a diverse team of 16 full-time employees with ambitious growth plans, aiming to reflect the rich tapestry of our state as we tell their stories. We have also built a statewide network of partnerships including our partners at the INDY in Durham and CityView in Fayetteville. At The Assembly, we believe in the power of great storytelling to inform, inspire, and connect communities. Our work is regularly cited in outlets such as Politico, The Washington Post, and Axios.
