Visiting Assistant Professor/Instructor to teach foundational production and media analysis courses starting August 2025.
Job Description
The Department of Media, Journalism & Film prepares students to live and work in a complex media environment, offering majors in Film Studies, Journalism, Media & Communication, and Strategic Communication. The primary responsibility for the hire will be teaching sections of our required Foundations of Production seminar course, which introduces students to sound design, camera, writing, and basics of editing in documentary, experimental, and narrative fiction workflows. There may also be opportunities for this individual to teach courses in screenwriting, studio TV, media studies, or narrative fiction.

Minimum Requirements:
Required: Ph.D. or MFA in Media Studies or a closely related field by date of appointment for appointment as Visiting Assistant Professor; M.A. in Media Studies or closely related field by date of appointment for appointment as Instructor.
Consideration will be given to candidates with teaching experience, experience with DaVinci Resolve, Adobe Creative Suite, and smartphone production workflows making use of apps including Blackmagic Camera and FilmicPro, and teaching experience in the listed areas.
