 As the Editor in Chief, you will manage an extraordinary team of journalists and educators in writing, editing, and producing 1) a daily educational newsletter for middle school and high school students, 2) an afternoon newsletter for their parents, and 3) our website presence. 
 The student newsletter,  The Daily Juice , is dedicated to creating engaging, non-biased content concerning current affairs. It is produced at four different reading levels covering 5th through 12th grades. The newsletter has built-in assessment questions, vocabulary builders, infographics, vocabulary tools, and videos. 
 The parent/adult newsletter, The Afternoon Digest, is produced in concert with The Daily Juice specifically for Juice parents and adults.&#xa0; &#xa0; 
 Our sister website  is an independent and nonpartisan news aggregator that uses news sources from across the political spectrum. The website is updated 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Our 12-person curation team spans the globe.&#xa0;&#xa0; 
 You will need to exercise sound news judgment, write and edit well, have extensive knowledge of both domestic and international news, and the ability to approach news in the most unbiased way possible.&#xa0;As a start-up, we are looking for a leader with boundless energy, creativity, empathy, and great managerial skills. 
 Compensation:  Commensurate with experience but within a $65-80,000 range and includes full benefits.

 C&#38;EN BrandLab, a part of the C&#38;EN Media Group, is an award-winning custom content studio that offers branded-content services to C&#38;EN&#8217;s advertisers, such as the creation of sponsored whitepapers and eBooks, conference show dailies and event guides, and native storytelling. 
 ACS Communications Division is searching for an Executive Editor, C&#38;EN BrandLab to lead custom publishing projects in support of ACS Journals and C&#38;EN. We are looking for someone with a proven track record creating on-brand editorial that engages, informs, and entertains the audience while adhering to the high standards of rigorous scientific storytelling set by C&#38;EN. These custom content projects may range from multipage, conceptual white papers to sponsored magazine content and production of tradeshow guides and advertorials. The ideal candidate can envision the future of the branded content studio and develop strategies to scale operations effectively. 
 Reporting to the Director of Sales &#38; Marketing, the Executive Editor will be responsible for developing content and distribution strategies for custom publishing products, including native advertising on all platforms, white papers, webinar materials, social campaigns, and onsite publications. The person has to have a keen eye for story in science and a passion to create memorable content for the print, digital, and social media spaces. The Executive Editor, C&#38;EN BrandLab will work closely with the Director of Sales &#38; Marketing in pitching ideas and liaising with clients so that projects meet the commercial needs of specific global markets and clients and manage a team of two (2) account managers. 
 This role will focus on developing scintillating proposals for custom programs for industry-leading campaigns. The Executive Editor, C&#38;EN BrandLab will direct the content, design, and production teams and freelancers in the pitch, creation, execution, and effectiveness across all campaigns, ensuring that each campaign is impactful and authentic to both brand and reader while maintaining the highest standards for scientific accuracy. The ideal candidate is an adept team player and networker, comfortable working closely with advertising clients and researchers as well as production, design, and marketing staff. 1) &#xa0;&#xa0;&#xa0;&#xa0;&#xa0;&#xa0;&#xa0;&#xa0;&#xa0;&#xa0; Conceive, research and write pitches and proposals for concepts that meet client and market needs and position ACS as a leader in innovative custom content solutions. Ensure that editorial content and design meet quality standards and expectations set by senior management in a collaborative manner. 
 2) &#xa0;&#xa0;&#xa0;&#xa0;&#xa0;&#xa0;&#xa0;&#xa0;&#xa0;&#xa0; Collaborate with the Director, Advertising Sales and the C&#38;EN Editorial team to develop editorial calendars for multiple media products and develop on time editorial plans and schedules.&#xa0; Creatively identify market opportunities and voids in content. 
 3) &#xa0;&#xa0;&#xa0;&#xa0;&#xa0;&#xa0;&#xa0;&#xa0;&#xa0;&#xa0; Supported by the Senior Editor of C&#38;EN BrandLab, manages a team of external writers to ensure print and digital content delivers the desired message to the designated audience. Supported by the C&#38;EN account manager, manage projects with financial controls adhering to approved budgets and processes.&#xa0; Maintain reporting and timeline status schedules for projects. 
 4) &#xa0;&#xa0;&#xa0;&#xa0;&#xa0;&#xa0;&#xa0;&#xa0;&#xa0;&#xa0; Inform clients on branded content best practices, assess program objectives, and provide insights and recommendations.&#xa0; Stay up-to-date on content marketing and native advertising trends and competitors&#8217; programs.&#xa0; Write long- and short- form content as needed. 
 5) &#xa0;&#xa0;&#xa0;&#xa0;&#xa0;&#xa0;&#xa0;&#xa0;&#xa0;&#xa0; Support the Advertising, Sales and Marketing team by providing input and guidance on client proposals. Collaborate with internal marketing and creative personnel and engage external support as needed. 
 A bachelor&#8217;s degree in a science-related discipline or in journalism, communications, English, or a related field. A minimum of 7 years of science writing and editing experience. Demonstrated ability to conceive and execute projects that are engaging, authentic, and shareable. Familiarity with scientific/technical terms and the ability to comprehend research and academic writing and &#8220;translate&#8221; it for different audiences. Ability to conceive and describe program elements such as articles, interactive infographics, personal profiles, social media campaigns and live action, motion graphic and video. Ability to explain multiple facets of an idea, from what it is and what it will look like to what the reader experience will be and why it will effectively deliver on the client&#8217;s goal. Proven skill in assigning, editing, and creating digital news, features, and multimedia. Knowledge of SEO and social media best practices as well as experience with sales, and/oe&#xa0; advertising/marketing are a plus.
