We are looking for a Team Leader to run coverage of Asia's credit markets, which have powered the world's fastest-growing economies and now face increasing strains after record borrowing during the pandemic. You'll be responsible for all areas including distressed debt/bankruptcies, primary issuance of bonds, loans, private credit and secondary market trading, as we chronicle how Asia's corporations and financial institutions finance themselves and what happens when things go wrong.
The team works closely with a separate China Credit team, and covers Asia outside Greater China. Encouraging unity in diversity, you'll help teammates in India, Singapore, Australia, South Korea and Japan connect the dots across regional and global markets. Colleagues in countries including Indonesia, Philippines, Malaysia and Thailand will also partner with you to ensure we redefine coverage in these key growth markets.
Credit touches on all beats, and you'll catalyze collaboration with colleagues across teams, bureaus and languages to break scoops of fact and insight. To succeed, you'll need to empower a group of dedicated journalists to work with urgency in a fiercely competitive environment, and with authority in connecting the dots.
We'll trust you to: Lead the team to break news, and produce insightful & authoritative coverage Plan & assign coverage, acting as a key decision maker on what format/platform best suits the content Communicate effectively across all platforms and teams, including with the Markets Editing Team and Newsdesk, to improve impact Develop the skills of reporters and editors, and facilitate career growth opportunities React quickly and decisively to unexpected developments Create a clear vision for the team and address gaps & opportunities
You'll need to have: At least 7 years of recent experience in Financial Journalism as a reporter or editor At least 3 years of recent experience in real-time news including day-to-day markets coverage in addition to working on longer-term enterprise stories Experience leading, mentoring or developing teams in a newsroom Demonstrated ability to lead effectively under pressure Proven ability to understand opportunities and risks in credit markets Fluency in both written and spoken English Demonstrated continuous career growth within an organization Bachelor's degree or degree-equivalent qualifications
