Drake University's School of Journalism and Mass Communication invites applications for an Adjunct Instructor position to teach JMC 54 Reporting and Writing Principles. The course is the introductory journalism writing course taken by all Drake SJMC students in their first or second year. This course covers news judgment and professional ethics; interviewing, research and other fact-gathering methods; and journalism writing style with extensive practice and feedback. The class meets twice a week for one hour and 50 minutes. Essential job functions include being able to teach reporting and journalism-style writing, providing extensive editing and feedback. Successful candidate must have earned a bachelor's degree and have significant experience as a communications professional working in a field related to the course content. Evidence of teaching effectiveness is preferred.
