The Bay Area News Group, which includes The Mercury News and East Bay Times, has an opening for a breaking news editor. We’re looking for an energetic and aggressive journalist who combines strong news judgment and quick, digitally-focused decision-making skills with the kind of teaching/coaching approach to editing that turns promising reporters into great ones. You’ll work with reporters and editors on the breaking news team and across the newsroom — as well as visual journalists and our audience engagement team —to handle the biggest breaking news stories of the day. We'll also look to you to launch deeper enterprise off the news, and guide the team toward interesting stories that aren't staring us in the face.
