Scientific Editor Position Available at Genes and Development

Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory Press is seeking a Scientific Editor for its journal Genes & Development. The candidate must have a Ph.D. in the biological sciences and some post-doctoral experience is strongly desired. A broad interest in current biomedical research and experience in the communication of science are essential. Responsibilities include evaluation of submitted research papers, assisting the Editor with manuscript review and selection of referees, communication with authors and reviewers, targeting areas for review by staying current on primary or review literature and through discussions with Editors and Editorial Board Members, commissioning and handling of Review and Outlook articles which includes reading and editing Reviews and Outlooks for content, organization, and style; and travel to relevant scientific meetings.

Education: A Ph.D. in the biological sciences is required, some post-doctoral experience is strongly desired

The ideal candidate must be outgoing, and have excellent interpersonal skills. Strong communication, problem solving and organizational skills, creativity, ability to multitask and meet deadlines are significant requirements.
